Ava cared deeply about physical and mental health, children, her friends, family, and animals. It was her dream to attend the University of Oregon to pursue a career supporting the positive mental health of kids. In her honor, two scholarship funds have been established—one at Sauvie Island School and one at Scappoose High School—reflecting the community support for mental health that Ava inspired. Those who loved Ava have also contributed to organizations like Children's Relief Nursery and Lines for Life to honor her legacy.
Ava's favorite color was green, and her colleagues at the childcare where she worked began sharing green hearts to remember her. The green heart has become a widespread symbol of Ava's life, with the community spreading them around town in many ways. Ava treasured flowers, and fresh blooms are left in many places she loved, including her senior parking spot at the high school every Sunday for 'Senior Sunday.' We will continue Ava's legacy by supporting kids, promoting good health, and sharing beauty wherever we can. The outpouring of love, care, and generosity after Ava's passing has been a testament to the lives she touched and the truly extraordinary community we are honored to be a part of.
We love you forever, Ava.
